July Bragging Rights

Bragging Rights On Thursday Nights is our way of supporting our community and non profits with our love of cars!! Come on out with your classic car, motorcycle, anything you have! Each month we will have a different non profit serving the meal for a free will donation. Bring your lawn chairs, come out for food, friends, music and supporting our community!! The Boys and Girls Club will be the non-profit organization hosting July 29th Bragging Rights meal. They will start serving at 5:30 pm. The meal is free will donation, so come on down and show them some support!

Kids in the Park- Phil Baker

Ditch the Saturday morning cartoons and join the Yankton Parks & Rec department for live entertainment in Fantle Memorial Park on Saturday, July 31st at 9:30am. Kids in the Park is a new, two hour event that the whole family will enjoy!
Phil Baker is best known for his signature style, red guitar, catchy tunes, and heartfelt lyrics, Phil Baker writes and performs music to help children learn something about the world around them. But mostly, he just likes to make kids laugh and smile.

 

 

 

Crofton’s Dam Race

RUN. BIKE. KAYAK 

Runners, bikers and kayakers have discovered a new kind of race along the shores of Lewis & Clark Lake in Northeast Nebraska on Saturday, July 31st. Choose your adventure between three events: a sprint triathlon with kayaking instead of swimming, a half marathon or 12-mile bike race. Participants must be 14 years or older. Each entry will receive a t-shirt, bib, and meal at the conclusion of the race. Extra t-shirts and meals can be ordered online.T-shirts are $15 each and meals are $10 each.

START – Weigand Recreation Area beach area at Lewis & Clark Rec Area
FINISH – CHANGE IN ROUTE THIS YEAR ONLY. Finish at Weigand Recreation Area.
AWARDS CELEBRATION & BBQ – Crofton Haymarket, Main Street Crofton

Outdoor Summer Movie Series

Enjoy an outdoor movie series all summer long in Vermillion! On Wednesday nights throughout the summer, the Coyote Twin and the Clay County Fair Board and 4-H invite you to outdoor showings of favorite movies at Clover Hall. Admission is FREE and Coyote Twin concessions will be available for purchase on site.
Grab a lawn chair or blanket and come on over for some summer fun! The movie showing on August 4th will be Black Panther (PG-13). Seating begins at 8pm. Movies starts at 8:45pm.
This series is FREE and open to the public thanks to the sponsorship of these awesome local partners: Kris O’Connor with Dakota Realty, Sanford Vermillion, United Way of Vermillion, Vermillion Area Chamber & Development Company, and Vermillion Food Pantry.

 

 

 

Gayville-Vollin Youth Baseball Fundraiser

Help raise money for the Gayville- Vollin Baseball team on Saturday, August 7th! Enjoy a freewill donation meal of a taco bar with all the toppings, lemonade, water, & bars/desserts. Supper will be served from 5-8pm at the Gayville community center. Silent auction starts at 5 with the live auction starting at 8pm.

Swinging for Hope Golf Tournament Fundraiser for CASA

Enjoy an afternoon of golfing and games, prizes and fun, all in the name of giving hope to local children who have experienced abuse or neglect. All proceeds from this FUN fundraising event will provide CASA advocacy services for children in Clay, Union, and Turner counties in South Dakota. This 18 hole golf tournament fundraiser will be held Sunday, August 21st at The Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion.

Registration and lunch will be held form 11:30-1pm with tournament starting at 1:00. The registration fee for each 4 person team is $300 and includes green fees for four, 2 complimentary cart rentals, and lunch for four! Register your team today online at www.southeastcasa.org/golf.

Walk A Mile in their Shoes & Family Fun Day

Join the River City Family Connections & River City Domestic Violence Center for a family fun day & the walk a mile in their shoes even on Saturday, August 28th at The Lawn at the Meridian Plaza. Family fun day is from 11am-2pm. Events include: face painting, carnival games, bounce houses and more!

Check in for the walk a mile in their shoes begins at noon. Receive your FREE bag, water bottle, and shirt. If walking in the signature RED HEELS, pick them up at check-in. Walk begins at 12:30 on the Merdian Bridge in support of survivors of abuse.

Walk with a team or as individuals. All pledges go toward our agency and shelter, where our mission is to help all survivors of abuse in our community and surrounding counties.

Bon Homme Poker Run

Join the Springfield Chamber of Commerce for their Inaugural Bon Homme Poker Run on Saturday, September 11 from 12pm – 5pm. Proceeds to benefit the Bon Homme County Food Pantry. All vehicles welcome!

Registration from 11am – 12pm at the Springfield Veteran’s Memorial. $20 per card, no card limit. Free t-shirts to the first 100 registrants. Kickstands up at 12:05pm, done at 5pm Downtown Springfield. There will be multiple giveaways along the route.

Ricky Bobby-Style Payouts (“If you ain’t first, you’re last”):
1st Place – $800
Last Place – $200

Stops include: The Keg Bar in Tabor, Recreation Bar in Scotland, Gibby’s Corner Bar & Lounge in Tyndall, Pour Corner in Avon, The Dock in Running Water, & Downtown Springfield. Cards will be drawn on Main Street, Springfield at 5pm, winners announced at 6pm
