Chris Young's glad he heard

Chris Young's glad he heard "Young Love & Saturday Nights" first

Courtesy of Sony Music Nashville

Found Chris Young's "Young Love & Saturday Nights" nostalgic? Well, you have songwriters Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure, Josh Thompson and English rock star David Bowie to thank for that.

"[I'm] so excited to have that song out there. Got to shoot a really amazing video for it as well. But shout-out to the guys that wrote that," says Chris. "And obviously David Bowie is also credited as a songwriter because that is the lick from 'Rebel Rebel.'"

Hearing "Young Love & Saturday Nights," as Chris recounts to ABC Audio, happened by pure happenstance.

"[Warner Chappell Music] had bought the David Bowie catalog and they're like, 'We need to do something with this because these songs are too good. There's got to be a way to sample it. ... What if we make something new and use that lick and use the melody?' And they're like, 'We could try that,'" recalls Chris.

He adds, "I'm really glad that I heard that song before anybody else because I'm sure somebody else would have taken it by now if I hadn't."

"Young Love & Saturday Nights" is the title track and lead single from Chris' forthcoming new album. It drops March 22 and is available for presave now.

Sam Hunt may be a music superstar, but nothing gives him greater purpose than being a dad.

"I’ve got my little girl [Lucy Louise] who’s coming up on 2 years old, who is growing and changing every day, and I’m having a lot of fun with her. I had my first son [Lowry Lee] just a few months ago, who is growing fast and a lot of fun," adds Sam.

David A. Smith/Getty Images

Brett Young may have covered Tim McGraw's "Don't Take the Girl," but singing with Tim in the studio is still on his bucket list.

"In country music, I still haven't gotten to do anything with Tim yet," says Brett. "'Don't Take the Girl' is literally what caused a Southern California kid to find country music when nobody was listening to it there yet."

While the two have yet to collaborate, they have met in person, on international soil — and it's a moment that's etched in Brett's memory.

"I've gotten to meet him. He's a sweetheart," shares Brett. "He actually didn't even make me reach out. We played a show with him and Faith [Hill] in Dublin and he reached out saying, 'I know Brett's a fan. Does he want to come say hello?' I mean, he did it, which was very sweet of him. He didn't have to do that. The collab would be cool."

"Texas Hold 'Em" is Beyoncé’s first entry on 'Billboard''s Country Airplay chart

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for The Recording Academy

Beyoncé’s no stranger to Billboard lists, yet it's her first time on the country charts. Just two days after Columbia Nashville announced Bey's "Texas Hold ‘Em" is being promoted on country radio, the track's landed at #54 on the Country Airplay chart.

The chart displays audience impressions at roughly 150 country radio stations in the U.S.: "Texas Hold 'Em" hit 1.1 million via 100 stations in the week ending February 15.

"We immediately added it a sub-power rotation, which is where we put top-trending new music," Bo Matthews, program director at San Jose's KBAY, tells Billboard of "Texas Hold 'Em." "I want people to hear it. One of the biggest artists in the world delivered a great country record for us to have fun with, and the song is really good. We are in the business of creating excitement for our listeners and I’m embracing the moment. Plus, there is plenty of room for great artists, even from other genres. It’s a big country tent.”

Virginia radio station WUSH's program director Dave Parker says he "put the Beyoncé [song] directly into a strong rotation so it can be heard."

"I want the station to sound as interesting as possible, because the opposite is boring," he continues. "This song is sounding great and doesn’t sound like anything else. Plus, the feedback from listeners and even fellow staffers so far has been very positive."

Tim Roberts, program director of Detroit's WYCD, adds, "I think it’s a good record, and country is so popular right now, it’s great that she wants to be here. Just like we do with any song on our playlist, now the listeners will decide."
