Ryan Gosling is returning to music with Dead Man’s Bones, the gothic rock duo he formed with musician Zach Shields, after a 17-year break.
The band confirmed through an Instagram announcement on October 22 that new music will arrive on October 27, 2026. The announcement featured a Halloween-themed video with references to ghosts, shadows, and supernatural imagery.
Gosling’s partner, Eva Mendes, had hinted at the comeback earlier in the week through social media posts. Following the announcement, Mendes shared her excitement, writing, “He came through on his promise to me.”
Dead Man’s Bones released its self-titled debut album in 2009, featuring contributions from the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir. The project combined gothic folk, rock, and theatrical elements, with songs exploring ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural themes.
Although the band has been inactive for years, Gosling has continued performing music through his film career, including La La Land and Barbie. His performance of “I’m Just Ken” also earned him a Grammy nomination.
Details about a full album or potential live performances have not been announced.
