The Yankton Bucks host the Sturgis Scoopers this afternoon in game one of the Class A Baseball Super Regionals.
The Bucks wrapped up the regular season on a six-game win streak, earning the #4 seed with an 18-4 record. Sturgis is the #13 seed at 8-6 in Class A play.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM tonight. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:30 with Brayden Butler and Josh Boelter.
The Yankton Gazelles will travel to Mitchell this morning for a Class AA Golf invitational at Lake View Golf Course. Tee time is scheduled for 10:30 AM.
The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles travel to Watertown tomorrow morning for the ESD Conference Track and Field Meet.
The meet will be held at the Allen Mitchell Athletic Complex. Field events begin at 10:00 AM, with running events scheduled for noon.
The South Central Amateur Baseball League opened their season last night with four league games.
Crofton defeated Freeman 14-9. Austin Gobel finished with four hits and three runs scored. Brayden Hegge earned the win on the mound.
Tabor topped Irene 19-8. Landon Schmidt was perfect at the plate, ending the night 3 for 3 with a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored.
Lesterville defeated Wynot 18-8. Derek Quame posted five hits and scored three runs at the plate, while earning the win on the mound.
Yankton defeated Menno 20-3. Lucas Kampshoff ended his impressive night with two home runs, five RBIs, and three runs scored. Drew Ryken struck out eleven batters for the win on the mound.
Next up in league play are a pair of games on Sunday. Lesterville will host Irene, and Freeman will host Wynot. Both games are scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM.
The South Dakota Coyotes will make their first NCAA Softball Tournament appearance in school history today against the top-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers.
The Coyotes enter the NCAA Tournament with a 20-34-1 overall record, coming off an underdog run in the Summit League Tournament, which saw them win the championship as the #4 seed.
First pitch from Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska, is scheduled for 5:30 PM this evening. The game can be viewed nationally on ESPN Plus.
